Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be picked up by one of our professional Karumuna Safaris driver guides and driven to your hotel. You have the option of taking a tour of the beautiful city of Kigali today; otherwise, you can relax at the hotel and get ready for your expedition tomorrow.

After an early breakfast you will transfer to Virunga National Park, which is well known for its gorilla tour tracking. During your journey, you will observe the rich and wild nature of Uganda and the nearby hills of Rwanda. You will eat lunch and dinner at the lodge.

Virunga National Park is the only conservation area that features three of the great ape species: eastern lowland gorillas, mountain gorillas and chimpanzees. We will trek and hike through the mountains in order to locate a gorilla family and spend an hour in their presence. Later we will transfer back into Uganda.

Today is a free day to relax by the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi. A short list of optional activities on offer here include: canoeing, swimming (safe in this lake) or hiking on the Bushara trail along the lake shore. Any activity on this lake features the sounds of exotic birds singing! All of today’s activities are available tomorrow as well.

Bunyonyi means “place of little birds” and, as the name suggests, there is plenty of birdlife around this lake. The landscape around the lake is made up of terraced hills protruding from the water’s edge. You can choose to go on a canoe ride, swim on the lake or hike to the hilltop viewpoint to see the exceedingly beautiful scenery of this part of the country.

After breakfast you will leave Lake Bunyoyi and transfer to Lake Mburo, which is known as the ‘zebra magnet’. After driving through the nearby hilly areas you will arrive in the park and eat lunch at the lodge before heading out on an afternoon game drive in search of zebras, topis, warthogs, cape buffaloes and impalas.

Get up early and depart on a safari walk in order to visit hyena dens and catch a glimpse of leopards, zebras, waterbucks, birds, buffaloes and more! Return for breakfast and start the drive to Kampala. Eat an early lunch Masaka and stop at the equator. You have the option of going straight to the airport or spending another night in a local hotel.
