You will be met on arrival at Kigali International Airport by our representative who take you on a Kigali City Tour. Visit the Kandt Museum, tour old Kigali and the Craft centres, visit the genocide memorial site where you learn about Rwanda’s history pre-colonial to 1994 genocide as well as other genocides in the world. Tour more and see the new developments; the recovery has been incredible, a true testament to humankind’s resilience. Afterwards drive 2.5hrs to Musanze and check-in to your lodge.

After breakfast you’ll join your driver/guide for an optional city tour of Kigali which includes the Memorial centre and Crafts centre.

The history of Rwanda dates back centuries, Kigali has been a part of it for a hundred years. Founded in 1907 as a German settlement, Kigali didn’t become the capital until Rwanda’s independence in 1962. Since then, the city has seen major economic development, today it’s a vibrant African city with wide boulevards, an international airport, world-class hotels and restaurants, craft centres and a lively, cosmopolitan population.

Pay a moving visit to the Kigali Memorial Centre, a permanent memorial to the victims of the widely documented Rwandan genocide in 1994. Learn about Rwanda’s history pre-colonial to 1994 genocide as well as other genocides in the world.

Drive north to Ruhengeri at the foothills of the Virungas to check in at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Early Breakfast then onto Volcanoes National Park HQs where you will be allocated a Gorilla Tracking group for briefing by then drive to the trail head for the start of an amazing adventure. Returning to the lodge for lunch then back to Kigali and check in to Lemigo Hotel for the night.

Trek in the footsteps of the rare and critically endangered Mountain Gorillas in the cultivated foothills of the Virungas. Views are incredible. Once in the park you’ll be immersed in the intimacy of the rainforest – the bird calls are amazing to hear!

Weaving through overhanging vines, moss-covered hagenia and giant lobelias that thrive in the tropical climate, our experienced trackers soon bring us up close with the family. Upon sighting the gorillas, you will stay with them for a magical hour as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting; raising their young. Coming face to face with a giant silverback must truly be one of the greatest wildlife experiences on earth!
